BY has been shown in the Eastern European Film Festival/Warsaw in December of 2020. It was nominated for Best Animated Film. It was also praised in Stockholm in December of 2020. Producer NM also won Best Film Writing in the American Filmatic Festival in Brooklyn in 2019.

Baba Yaga is a classic Russian fairy tale, the story of kindness, ingenuity and endurance rewarded. The witch with the iron teeth is a well known threat who lives in the village. A little girl is surprised when her Dad marries a witch sister. The stepmother sends her on a scary journey to the witch’s hut. The girl tries to flee with help from the witch’s servants. Furious, the witch begins a hot pursuit of her.

Baba Yaga is perfect for animation: a comb grows into a forest. The witch hut runs about on chicken legs, towel grows into a hugs body of water to stop the witch. The witch propels herself about in a mortar and pestle.

Caution: Baba Yaga tried to avoid the bland committee project feeling of many animated stories and be genuinely scary at times.
